Hole in One Bakeries:
Outer Cape Cod Favorites Since 1989
At Hole in One bakeries (and our sister restaurant, The Fairway), our mission is simple — and one our whole team proudly stands behind: to serve delicious food and beverages that are both delicious and comforting.
We think of ourselves as one big family, with an extended crew of hardworking folks who share the same goal — to deliver the very best to our customers.
We are proud to be a part of the Cape Cod community, and we show that by supporting local schools, events, and fundraisers. Being involved is part of who we are.
Our Story Begins…
Hole in One and The Fairway are owned by John and Brenda Kesaris. John’s roots in the restaurant world run deep — he grew up helping out in his family’s South Shore eatery, learning the ropes early on. From kitchen basics to big-picture business lessons, those early days gave him a strong foundation that continues to guide him in both work and life.
After high school, John enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He went on to work as a sous chef at a major hotel chain, sharpening his culinary skills. But corporate kitchens didn’t feel like home, and it wasn’t long before John ventured out to open his first restaurant. That first step turned into many — with multiple ventures up and down the East Coast.
Among those was “Pizzings,” a successful wings-and-pizza concept he created inside one of his full-service restaurants. It proved so popular he spun it off into a grab-and-go business, later selling it to focus on his next venture: “The Marsh Coal Fired Pizza” — a full-service family style pizzeria in Marshfield, MA.
Meanwhile, down on Cape Cod, the Hole in One Donut Shop had grown into a beloved local gem. In 1989, the Bazzano ran the business and expanded to include a second donut shop and the Fairway Restaurant next door.
Ken Taber came on board as General Manager and, alongside his wife and her three sisters, helped lead the operation for years. Together, they nurtured and grew the business until the early 2020s, when they began thinking about retirement. Around that time, fate stepped in: John Kesaris, a then summer-resident to the Cape, stopped by the Orleans location for a cinnamon bun.
John, who always had a passion for baking, saw something special in the Hole in One and Fairway. When the opportunity arose, John and Brenda made the decision to purchase the business, making minimal changes in their first years. They focused on maintaining quality while slowly weaving in fresh ideas and opening two new locations — in Yarmouth and Rockland.
Today, the Kesaris family is all-in. John, Brenda, and their children work together — whether behind the counter, in the kitchen, or managing operations — continuing the family tradition.
Looking ahead, John and Brenda remain committed to upholding the standards, values, and community ties that have made the Hole in One and Fairway such enduring Cape Cod favorites.
Stop by and say hello the next time you’re on the Cape — we think you’ll feel right at home. And chances are, it won’t be your last visit!
